The City of Kalona should have a building design together within the next month. City officials and representatives from Martin Gardner Architecture met recently to discuss the preliminary design and cost estimates that are being working on. They should be done by the second council meeting in September.

According to Mid-Prairie Superintendent, Mark Schneider, during a work session last night, the school board discussed a project they’re working on with another engineering firm. They’re still deciding on what type of facility would best serve the district, and how it would be financed.

If the building plans are similar, district and city representatives will meet to see if combining the projects would save money.
