The Iowa Department of Transportation has notified Kalona of their plans for roadwork on Highway 1. Kalona is managed by two different DOT district offices, District 6 in Cedar Rapids, and District 5 in Fairfield. The Fairfield office will deal with construction from Highway 92 to Highway 22, and from there, the Cedar Rapids office will take it up to the Highway 218 interchange in Iowa City.  The resurfacing will begin next year.
