The smaller of the two ponds at Marr Park is being rehabilitated. The upper pond was recently drained and dredged, as part of a $100,000 project.

According to Steve Anderson, Director of Washington County Conservation, they’re now going to create fish habitats, using wood and concrete, and will also be installing a jetty. He explains the project will address the ponds issues with fish kills.

The project is being paid for with lodge rental fees, a wildlife habitat grant from the Iowa DNR, and around half of the cost is being covered by a Washington County Riverboat grant. Work will be completed by this fall.
