The Winfield Mt-Union volleyball team will travel to West Burlington tonight for a tournament.

The Wolves, who were ousted one game short of going to state last year look to start out quickly, but they face a Pekin team that has already played three games already, going 1-2 in the WACO tournament earlier this week.

In the preview article about WMU volleyball, we made mention of not having Alicia Escher, but the Wolves have plenty of other weapons to use tonight.

Head coach Dave Pieart said despite Pekin having game experience, he thinks his team will still compete well.

“It does present a little bit of a challenge, because if there are some nerves, or jitters, or a couple of things you haven’t worked out rotation wise, Pekin has had the chance to work that out, and we’ll kind of have to do that on the fly, but that’s going to happen in most instances, someone along the way is going to have to play first,” Pieart said. “West Burlington hasn’t played yet and we haven’t played yet, and we get to watch the Pekin vs. West Burlington game first, so we’ll get a chance to see what’s going on before we step out there.”

WMU will travel to the West Burlington tournament tonight with the first match starting at 5:30 P.M.
