The Iowa Finance Authority has awarded nearly $2 million in federal grants to help 25 state agencies with homelessness prevention and assistance initiatives. The Domestic Violence Program based in Iowa City that serves Washington, Johnson, Keokuk, Iowa, Cedar, Henry, Des Moines, Lee and Van Buren counties received $100,000 to use for shelter and outreach and homelessness prevention as well as rapid rehousing.

The funds are from the federal Emergency Solutions Grant program which aims to help Iowans regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis.
