The Columbus Junction Cross Country team is finally in action tonight. The Wildcats were scheduled to run last Saturday, but due to the heat the meet was canceled and their first one will be tonight at the University of Iowa Course.

This meet will be a home meet for Iowa City Regina who will play hosts to 11 schools, including Columbus Junction, Monticello, Durant, North Cedar, Tipton, West Liberty, Wilton, Clear Creek Amana, Anamosa, Solon and Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

Columbus Junction head coach Steve Riley said that he likes where his team is at, especially after last week’s practices in the heat wave.

“We’ve had a few little things here and there in terms of injuries, but with a squad of nearly 25 kids you’re going to have a few things, and with high school kids you’re always going to get a small level of complaint of course, but despite all of that everybody showed up, everybody ran to the best of their ability and I feel really good as to where we are right now,” Riley said.

Columbus Junction will head to the Bob Brown Invitational tonight at 5:30. To find the location of the University of Iowa course, you can find it at rivervalleyconference.org.
