September is Archaeology Month and in honor of it, the Washington County Conservation Board is hosting a special event. The program called “Digging up the Past” will include a simulated dig at Marr Park. Authentic and pseudo-artifacts will be examined and discussed to determine purpose, age and what they can tell us about the inhabitants of Iowa. Also, the role of weather in preservation will be discussed.

The event will be held next Saturday, September 21st, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Conservation Education Center in Marr Park.

For questions about this program, contact Naturalist Pam Holz at the Washington County Conservation Board office, (319) 657-2400 or wccbnaturalist@iowatelecom.net.
