Last week was the wettest week in 12 weeks and last Thursday was the wettest day since June 24th in Iowa according to the weekly U.S. Department of Agriculture crop and weather report. In Southeast Iowa, 45 percent of corn is mature and 25 percent of soybeans are dropping leaves.

Across the state, following last week’s rain, corn condition improved slightly to 36-percent fair, 32-percent good and 5-percent excellent. Thirty-five percent of corn is now mature, behind the normal 61-percent. Also, soybean condition improved slightly to 37-percent fair, 10-percent good and 1-percent excellent with 69-percent of soybeans having turned color, 20 percentage points behind normal.
