The No. 15 Washington Demons host No. 4 Pella tonight in highly ranked game in just the second week of the season for both teams.

Washington got their win last week over Mid-Prairie 35-14 and did it mostly on the ground, while Pella got a 38-13 win over Marshalltown with a rushing attack and 151 yards through the air. Last year this game had to go to overtime and Daryn Seibelius threw a touchdown pass in an 8-13 passing night, but neither team really went anywhere on the ground as the defenses held the running game.

This year Washington is led by Seibelius with 111 yards and a touchdown and Alex Coker with 110 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Tackling wise the linebacking core of the Demons leads the team along with some help from corner back Carl Sivels who added an interception as well.

Pella’s quarterback Trevor Argo went 6-15 with a touchdown in the game against Marshalltown, while Noah Clayberg leads the ground game with 99 yards and one touchdown. On defense the Dutch are well rounded with tackles from all over.

The key players to watch tonight could be the special teams, with Wil Warner for Pella having a 26 yard kickoff return and the explosive Coker having a 35 yard punt return, field position could once again be the part of this game that wins it for either team.

Demon head coach Randy Schrader said his team needs to take something away from Pella offensively to get them out of their comfort zone.

“They are going to be a run first team, I am sure of that, I don’t see them throwing the ball all over the field, I think they are going to run the football with [Nathan Henry and Noah Clayberg] it’s our job to stop the run, we have to stop the run and try and make them throw the ball and then we can pressure them, except we have to cover the back end too,” Schrader said. “We have to take something away from them and make them play left handed, so if we take the run away from them we thing we can make them play left handed by making them throw the football.”
