Another dry week, accompanied by high temperatures, worsened the drought now classified as severe in some parts of Iowa by the U.S. Drought Monitor. 30% of the state, including Washington, Louisa, Keokuk, and the majority of Iowa and Henry counties are now under that classification. Most of southeastern Iowa was dealing with a moderate drought up until last week. Conditions are expected to persist or intensify through the end of the month.
