IMS volleyball suffered it’s first Southeast Iowa Superconference loss of the season Thursday on the road at class 3A #13 Mediapolis. The Bullettes swept IMS 25-14, 25-18 and 25-12. Mediapolis used quick starts to jump on IMS in each game, scoring the first six tallies in all three sets. Iowa Mennonite fought back in the middle of sets one and two, getting as close as 14-11 in set one and tying set two at 14. However in the end it was not enough. Following the match Head Coach Dwight Gingerich talked about his team’s effort.

“I liked the overall effort, Mediapolis is very sound in ever phase of the game,” Gingerich said, “In the first set they didn’t make any errors, in set two we battled and found ourselves competing and I think we entered that third set, maybe back on our heels a little bit and they took it to us, and again I thought we battled there for a stretch, but this one belonged to them.”

IMS was led on the night by Olivia Yutzy’s 10 kills, Casey Perez added 17 assists and Hannah Miller was 11 for 11 from the service line with the team’s lone ace. IMS is now 4-6 on the year and 1-1 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. IMS will travel to Wilton for tournament play this weekend.
