The empty seat on the Kalona City Council has been filled. Joe Schmidt was appointed at Tuesday’s council meeting to serve the rest of David Bentley’s term ending this year. Bentley resigned in early August. Mayor Ken Herington says hopefully Schmidt will like the position and decide to run this fall.
