The Mid-Prairie volleyball team dropped it’s first River Valley Conference match of the year falling to West Liberty in Wellman Thursday night. Despite holding leads late in the first two games Mid-Prairie was unable to hold off the Comets as West Liberty swept the match 25-22, 25-19 and 25-13. The game was the home debut for first year Golden Hawk Coach Cindy Miller. After the game Miller talked about her teams performance in games one and two.

“The first game we served excellent, and we had plays in place already so they weren’t really having to think what we needed to do, they were trusting, if one didn’t get it, they knew the other one was going to get it and that is where [when] we got into the second game we started missing a few, we were all of a sudden losing that trust,” Miller said.

The Golden Hawks were led by Taylor Kurtz with seven kills, Ashley Sojka with six digs, and Courtney Shalla’s 15 assists. Mid-Prairie is now 3-2 overall and 0-1 in River Valley Conference play. The Golden Hawks will be in tournament action Saturday at Mt. Vernon.
