Kirkwood Community College is partnering with Iowa highschools to offer concurrent credit classes, meaning that students can take a class to earn credit toward college while fulfilling high school requirements. Tera Pickens, Director of the Washington County Kirkwood Community College Center, says that 588 students were served in Washington County. She adds that the credits offered at the high school level are often transferable to other institutions. She recommends students and parents begin planning and speaking with guidance counselors about these courses freshman year.
