A phone scam has been reported in Kalona. According to the Kalona Chamber of Commerce, a Kalona business received a call from a women this week asking for a credit card number and payment of $189. The caller claimed to be with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Department of Compliance and Safety Standards.

A representative for the government agency tells KCII News they wouldn’t ask for that type of information over the phone. They also don’t have the capability of accepting credit card payments.
