Yesterday’s high temperature of 101 degrees in Washington broke the record previously set in 1912. Temperatures today are supposed to be in the mid-90s, with an anticipated high of 95 degrees. The National Weather Service warns that these temperatures will put people at risk for heat related illnesses and reminds people to keep hydrated. The agency states that a cold front is expected to move through tonight and tomorrow, with Friday’s anticipated high temperatures to be in the middle-60s and low-70s.

Also, today’s high temperatures combined with low humidity and southwest winds, will create an increased risk of grass fires with the recent excessive heat and dry fields.
