The Sigourney volleyball team will play just their second game of the season tonight when they host Montezuma.

The Savages are 0-1 after a loss to Albia last week, but Montezuma also lost to Albia, but are 2-1 on the season.

Jordan Carter leads the team in kills with 13, two blocks, both solo, and she also has three aces on the season as well. Defensively Sydney Davis has 23 assists, while Becca Ohland has 12 digs on the season.

Montezuma is led in kills by Mackenzie James with 17, while two others have 10, and Julie Audas has 11 aces, and is the setter with 45 assists. Brittany Bender has 42 digs on the season, with James behind her with 35 and James also adds four blocks, all solo, to her numbers as well.

Sigourney head coach Chris Carter said her team does start the season a little slow in terms of matches, but she thinks the practice that they had after the Albia game was good for them.

“I feel good that we have that one match underneath our belt, I don’t think Montezuma has played a whole lot more then we have,” Carter said. “We had three good days of practice after we Albia and we’ve been working on just fixing a few things and we’re just ready to get going with our season.”

Sigourney and Montezuma meet up tonight at Sigourney with the first serve at 6 P.M.
