Tonight is the Southeast Iowa Superconference volleyball tournament, and local schools are in different places with different teams, this is a preview of pool 1.

Only one local team is in pool one, and that is with WACO, The Warriors are 5-6 this season, and are led by Erika Leichty with 38 kills and Rosemary Skriver with 34 kills.

Also in the pool is top ranked Holy Trinity Catholic who is 21-1 and their only loss of the season is to Dowling Catholic 2-1.

West Burlington sitting at 9-5, 6-4 Pekin and 0-16 Maharishi round out the teams in this pool.

WACO head coach Jay Coble said he likes the idea of playing Holy Trinity, but that Pekin and West Burlington are the key games to moving on.

“We kind of feel like the Southern part of the conference is a little bit overrated, we really like our part of the conference, we feel that it is really tough, and we feel like we can play with West Burlington,” Coble said. “We know Pekin is a very athletic, young team and we feel that we can play with them also so those two matches, West Burlington and Pekin will probably be key for the tournament, we want to play Saturday afternoon on Saturday, we don’t want to play Saturday Morning.”

This pool is being played at Maharishi and the first match starts at 5.
