The Washington Demon cross country team ran at the Mt. Pleasant meet last night and both had some standout races.

For the girl’s, Washington was led by freshmen Mariah Howard who finished 13th overall in 17:35.

Other scorers for the girl’s were Stephanie Loy in 23rd in a time of 19:01, Stephanie Fishback in 27th in 20:58, MacKenzie Knutson in 28th in a time of 20:59 and rounding out the scorers was Maggie Voss in 29th place with a time of 21:07.

The girl’s were fourth with 120 points, while the winner was Mt. Pleasant with 30 points.

On the boy’s side Washington was led by Austin Latchem who finished 14th in a time of 18:28, and close behind him was Curtis Vest in 15th with a time of 18:37.

Other scorers for the boy’s were Owen Horak in 19th place in a time of 19:18, Jarek Brown in 21st with a time of 20:06 and Luke Brown in 23rd with a time of 20:22.

Washington was third, beating Fairfield for the first time this season with 92 points, while Ft. Madison won the meet with 25.

Washington is now off until next week when they host their home meet on Oct. 1.
