The four schools in Washington Community School District have been listed as In Need of Assistance on the 2013 State Report Card for No Child Left Behind. Lincoln Elementary School has been on the list for five years in math proficiency and Stewart Elementary has been on list for four years in the same category, both under the improvement status. For three years Washington Junior High School has been listed for reading proficiency. Washington High School is making the Adequate Yearly Progress through at least one of eight steps in the determination process in every category, except reading proficiency. The report is based on the Iowa Assessments taken by students in each school district.
