The Winfield- Mt. Union volleyball team had a tough tournament this weekend going 2-3 and losing a match to a top conference opponent.
The Wolves started out with a three set match against Midland, winning set one 21-15, and then dropping two and three 24-22 and 15-8. WMU then came back and beat Wilton in three sets, losing the first 21-7, and then winning two and three 22-20 and 15-10.
The Wolves were swept in their next two matches, losing to Mt. Pleasant 21-16 and 21-13 and to their conference opponent on Tuesday IMS 21-17 and 21-10. WMU capped off the day with a win over Durant in three sets, losing set one 21-12 and then winning two and three 21-18 and 17-15.
WMU finished 2-3 at the tournament placing them third. Stat wise Erica Robinson had 27 kills, while Shelby Therme had 21, Taylor Rodgers and Brooke Jennings led the team in assists with 60 combined. Therme missed just three serves in five matches and scored five aces, and she also led the team in digs with 36.
WMU is now 9-5 on the year and plays IMS tomorrow for the conference matchup.
