Zoning in Washington County ends today. The final reading of the ordinance to rescind zoning was held September 3rd at the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. Today the Washington County Floodplain Management Ordinance goes into effect, which allows residents in the flood plain to keep flood insurance without a standing zoning ordinance. The process of rescinding zoning began in March when the supervisors requested the planning and zoning commission to draft a report regarding ramifications of rescinding zoning, which was submitted in June.
