A bust of Lake Darling’s namesake will be debuted at the state park next summer. Doris Park plans to complete the bronze bust of Ding Darling over the winter. She began looking for ways to finance the project five years ago. A $4,000 grant from the Iowa Arts Council announced last week will help her finance half of the project, and she’s nearly done raising the rest. She expects to hold an unveiling sometime next June.
