The Washington Demon volleyball team got their first conference win last night and on senior night.
The Demons took on Keokuk and won in five sets, taking every game but the third to a win or the breaking point.
Washington lost the first set 25-19, won the second set 25-21, lost number three 25-14, dominated in set four 25-10 and won the final set five 15-12.
The Demons had been close in sets all season but couldn’t push over the hump to get the win. Demon head coach Julianna Berg said this was some of the best volleyball she saw from her girls, and that they did everything that they practice.
“The last week or two, we focused on minimizing our errors, and you can see the point where they did that, and didn’t do that as well, and the fourth game is probably some of the best that I have seen them play, and we talked about how important serving is, they served so well. It’s something that we work on every single day, it’s the first thing we work on in practice for 10-15 minutes and maybe even a little bit after that, so they came out and you can tell that has just really paid off,” Berg said.
Washington finishes up the conference season next week against Ft. Madison.
