It all starts over now, the records are thrown out and a chance at a state title is what is up for grabs.

The Demons have placed themselves into a situation that gives them a favorable path to the Dome, but they have three rounds to get through to get there. Tonight Washington takes on Carlisle at Case Field in round No. 1.

Washington is coming off a 63-3 win last Friday, in which the Demons scored the most points they have all season, and effectively shut down a passing attack team. The Demons will keep the ball mostly on the ground with Alex Coker who leads the running backs with 1,110 yards and 19 touchdowns, but they can also go through the air with Daryn Seibelius who is 34-76 for 568 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception. He is 13-20 in his last three games with five touchdowns.

The defense for the Demons has led down the stretch, letting in the first first quarter score last week since Williamsburg, and not letting a first half touchdown since Williamsburg. Garrett Covington has taken over the lead tackler spot and is supported by Jeff Knupp and Tanner Knupp at the linebacker positions.

Carlisle is the fourth seed coming out of their district, losing their final game of the season to Norwalk.

Jordan Pierce is their quarterback, going 47-96 with 773 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions. Carlisle will look to their ground game to get the yards, running a version of a triple option offense Tyrell Erb has 974 yards and 16 touchdowns, while Kichanh McMullen has 849 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Their defense is led by two players with over 100 tackles. Spencer Endecott has 143 and Chase Shanahan has 103 this year.

Demon head coach Randy Schrader said the rain poses a ball security problem, but outside of that his team is ready to go.

“I think on a night like this anybody is going to tell you it is going to be ball security, for us it is getting our [defense] and being really physical, and then just controlling the ball on offense and score when we get an opportunity,” Schrader said. “Carlisle is a great opponent, everyone is good now, but we really look forward to hosting them tonight at Case Field, just a quality opponent, a quality coached team. Our kids understand the significance of where we are at at this point in time, and our seniors still have some goals they need to accomplish so we just need to get mentally focused and really get after some people. It will be a great night for football tonight in Washington.”
