State and federal agencies are working to prevent unnecessary milk recalls.23 The FDA, Iowa Department of Agriculture and the manufacturer of milk testing equipment used by the state, are looking at ways to test non-homogenized milk from Kalona Organics.  Their chocolate milk from Farmers’ All Natural Creamery in Wellman was recalled last month due to an error. Mindy Seifert, with Kalona Organics, says, when testing non-homogenized milk, the machines need to be calibrated a certain way to avoid errors.
