The Fairfield Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a young boy. 9-year-old Jashawn Lane was taken by his father while on his way to school yesterday morning. Due to it being a custody issue, an amber alert was not issued.

Jashawn is described as a 4 foot tall African American, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue sweatpants, camouflage jacket and white high top shoes.

The child did contact his mother, to tell her he was ok and that he and his father were driving to North Carolina. It’s unknown what type of vehicle his father is driving.
