Three cases of influenza have been identified in eastern and central Iowa announced the Iowa Department of Public Health. The three cases are all type A – a strain of influenza that may cause serious illness. IDPH is recommending that all Iowans over the age of 6 months get an annual flu vaccine. The flu is usually spread through the air when people with the flu cough or sneeze. Also, people are reminded of the three Cs: cover coughs and sneezes, clean hands frequently, and contain germs by staying home when ill. For flu shots contact your healthcare provider or Washington County Public Health.
