At the 1A cross country meet at Pekin, the area had multiple qualifiers in the boy’s race.

The team champion at the meet was Wapello with 57 points, but Highland was in second, led by their top runner Evan Mahler in 16:10, and taking them back to Fort Dodge for the state meet for the second year in a row.

As for individuals, Kirby Shetler of IMS finished ninth as an individual with a time of 16:43 to qualify and run at the state meet. IMS as a team finished 13th with 358 points.

Other runners for IMS were Noah Bruns in 62nd with a time of 18:47, Payton Miller in 97th in a time of 20:11, Kobi Russom in 124th with a time of 21:55 and Rex Yoder in 127th in a time of 22:18.

On the girl’s side, there were no state qualifiers from the area. For IMS, they finished 13th with 338, while the winner of the meet was Pekin with 36. The highest finisher for the area was Lone Tree in ninth with 181.

The top IMS runner was Renee Buckwalter in 21st with a time of 16:35, followed by Michaela Gingerich in 82nd in a time of 19:36, Katya Doroshenko in 114th in 22:18, Nani Qimatshoeva in 123rd with a time of 27:16 and Anna Rossokhina in 124th with a time of 27:59.

Highland and Shetler will move on to the state meet, that will be held in Fort Dodge Next Saturday, November 2nd.
