The City of Washington’s Maintenance and Construction Department will be working throughout the city this week. The department will be flushing fire hydrants and residents may have a loss of water pressure, discoloration or rust during this time. The process is expected to last 10 to 14 days.

Also, the department will start picking up leaves on Monday, October 21st, in the Northwest quadrant of town moving in a counter-clockwise direction. This leaf vac program will run through November 27th. City residents may place leaf piles in the area between the sidewalk and the street, but not in the street. Placing leaves in the street may cause drainage problems and traffic hazards. Any questions should be directed to the Maintenance and Construction Department.
