The Iowa Department of Public Health has continued its program offering eight weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy with patches and gum for any Iowa smokers who choose to attempt to quit using tobacco using Quitline Iowa. Sarah Smith, Washington County Tobacco Control Coordinator and Prevention Specialist explains that the Quitline services include phone or online counseling and helping people individualize a plan to quite using tobacco.

She adds that the program was recently extended to youth, ages 13 to 17.
