The #14 IMS volleyball team continued their regional run Tuesday night in Victor sweeping the HLV Warriorettes on the road three games to zero. IMS took game one 25-16 after building an 18-12 midway through. The final two games were tightly contested with IMS having to rally past the Warriorettes to score wins. In game two IMS trailed 18-16 late. IMS rallied even later in the third and final game, trailing 22-21 before key kills from Olivia Yutzy and Riley Schmeider put the game on ice. Following the contest Head Coach Dwight Gingerich talked about how his team finished the wins.

“I thought we showed resilience and we were able to stay tight. We overcame some errors, [and] the middle hitter did a great job of putting the ball in some places that we just couldn’t get to, there were times that we were in the right spots, but she put the ball where we weren’t” Gingerich said. “I thought our middle blockers did a good job of stay persistent, they closed the blocks better as they night went on. I thought we just executed better as the night went along and when we needed to.”

IMS was led in the win by Yutzy’s 23 kills, Casey Perez added 27 assists and was a perfect 12 for 12 from the service line. Natalie Graber and Hannah Miller were a combined 27 of 28 from the service line with four aces. Defensively Demi Brezina and Perez each had 11 asissts. IMS now stands at 25-9 and will play in the regional semifinal round of the playoffs Friday night in Victor against Belle Plaine. The Plainswomen were winners in four games over Lynnville-Sully.
