The Iowa National Guard has recalled most of the full-time federal technicians that were furloughed last week with the partial government shutdown, announced Colonel Gregory Hapgood. The more than 1,000 employees that were recalled were done so as the result of the interpretation of the Pay Our Military Act by the U.S. Departments of Defense and Justice.

Twenty-one employees will remain furloughed including five federal technicians and 16 State of Iowa employees. Also, 96 state employees are scheduled for 30-day temporary layoffs beginning October 18th. At this time, approximately 2,100 full-time Iowa National Guard employees, including Active Guard and Reserve military personnel and federal technicians, remain on duty.
