Beginning Monday, the City of Washington’s Maintenance and Construction Department will start picking up leaves. City Administrator Brent Hinson explains that the city encourages residents to take advantage of the leaf pick up programs which includes the routine leaf and tree limb pick up or the leaf vac. To have leaves cleaned by the vacuum, residents need to rake their leaves to the space between the sidewalk and the street next week. Residents are reminded to not place leaves in the street, as that may cause drainage problems and traffic hazards.

Crews will start picking up leaves Monday in the Northwest quadrant of town moving in a counter-clockwise direction. This leaf vac program will run through November 27th. Any questions should be directed to the Maintenance and Construction Department.
