The Mid-Prairie cross country team will take part in their first River Valley Conference cross country meet tonight, and it is a stacked meet.

The meet will have 13 teams, making it feel more like a district meet than a conference meet.

Mid-Prairie has been a team that has competed well throughout the season no matter where they go, but head coach Mark Hostetler said this is a meet that is actually tougher than their district meet, and stronger than some 3A conferences.

“It’s the strongest 2A conference in the state, stronger than some of the 3A [conferences],” Hostetler said. “It’s a really strong field, it will actually be stronger than our state qualifying meet, which does not have Monticello, Cascade or Bellvue.”

The field for the boy’s will be; No. 1 ranked Monticello, No. 7 Mid-Prairie, No. 10 Regina, Bellevue, Camanche, Cascade, Durant, North Cedar, Northeast, Tipton, West Branch, West Liberty and Wilton. On the girl’s side it is; No. 3 Northeast, No. 4 Cascade, No. 5 Monticello, No. 10 Regina, No. 14 Mid-Prairie, Bellevue, Camanche, Durant, North Cedar, Tipton, West Branch, West Liberty and Wilton.

Mid-Prairie runs the River Valley Conference meet at Camanche with the first race at 4:30.
