Domestic Violence Awareness Month starts tomorrow. The Domestic Violence Intervention Program serves Washington County as well as Iowa Johnson and Cedar counties. Recently, the organization received state and federal funding from the Crime Victim Assistance Division with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office to expand services to include Keokuk, Henry, Des Moines, Lee and Van Buren counties. The program offers a variety of services including a 24-hour hotline, shelter and housing options, crisis interventions services, counseling and education services.
The 24-hour hotline number is 1-800-373-1043.
The Domestic Violence Program also recently received $100,000 through the Iowa Finance Authority from federal grants to use for shelter and outreach and homelessness prevention as well as rapid rehousing.
