The Mid-Prairie volleyball team fell in River Valley Conference action Tuesday night in Iowa City. Iowa City Regina swept the match up three games to zero. Game one saw Mid-Prairie hold a lead at 16-14 before Regina rallied to take the win 25-17. The Regals raced out to a 19-9 lead in game two before a 20 minute delay for a fire alarm caused by a burning popcorn machine. Even the stoppage in play couldn’t halt the Regals momentum on their senior night, Regina took game two 25-9 and finished with a 25-8 win in game three. Following the match Mid-Prairie Head Coach Cindy Miller talked about what turned the tide in game one and the rest of the match.

“Well it seemed like we were getting hitting errors, and they were not, they were hitting a little harder too, so our defense wasn’t digging up as much,” Miller said. “It just felt like there was a big turn in the game, and when that happens, it’s just part of volleyball, the ups and downs of volleyball.”

With the loss Mid-Prairie falls to 5-15 on the year and 0-7 in River Valley Conference play. The Golden Hawks will next be in action at Wilton Thursday.
