The Sigourney volleyball team grabbed a win last night in a tight match against HLV.
The Savages took care of business in the first two sets, winning 25-22 and 25-19, but HLV never quit, coming back and forcing a fifth set after winning sets three and four 25-21 and 25-16.
Sigourney was down in set five before a big rally jumped them to the lead and they took the win 15-13 and won 3-2.
Sigourney head coach Chris Carter said her team played well in the first two games, but needed to continue that through the entire match.
“We played really well in games one and two and then in game three I think we got a little overconfident and just kind of let off our game plan and our passing wasn’t as good and I thought HLV played harder in games three and four, definitely in game four they out played us, and then in game five we were actually down 7-11 and thought that game was maybe going to slip away, and the girls came back and did what they had to do to win, our defense came back, our offensive went aggressive, it was a good team effort,” Carter said.
The Savages were led by Jordan Carter in kills with 28, Sydney Davis had 39 assists and Becca Ohland had 30 digs.
Sigourney is back in action tonight against North English for their final game of the regular season. North English has just three wins on the season.
