The Washington County 4-H and Youth Committee, with the Washington County 4-H County Council held an annual award family fun night to recognize 4-H’ers and volunteers for their work throughout the year. The 4-H Alumni Award was presented to 98-year-old Marie Hora for her work with the program over the past 70 years. Julie Altenhofen was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Nebel family, Jim, Mary, Zach and Bridget, was awarded the 4-H Family of the Year Award; they have assisted with the Clover Kid sheep program and spear headed the new sheep wash rack for the fair. Hy-Vee of Washington was awarded the Friend of 4-H Award and the Partner in 4-H was Marc Peck with Washington Ag after being a dedicated supporter of youth with livestock projects at the auction each year.

Years of service to 4-H were also acknowledged. 4-H club leaders Angie Sandburg, April Cuddeback, Deb Kleese, Fred Witt, Jayme Sieren, Kolin Ross, Laure Schmitz, Todd Schmitz and Mindi Rees were recognized for five years of service to the Washington County 4-H program. Lynn Wright was recognized for 15 years of service, Tammy Vittetoe for 20 years, Jim Hotchkiss for 25 years. Gale Whitacre, 4-H leader for the Horse & Pony 4-H Club, was recognized as a club leader for 35 committed years.
