A healthy dose of rain has helped ease drought conditions slightly in this corner of the state. The U.S. Drought Monitor classification has been lifted from severe to moderate for Henry, Jefferson, Louisa, and most of Washington County. The severe classification remainsfor Johnson, Iowa, and much of Keokuk County, but conditions are expected to improve.
