A traffic stop in Jefferson County led authorities to find approximately 100 pounds of marijuana and over 5 grams of methamphetamine, resulting in two arrests, according to the Jefferson County Attorney. On Tuesday, at approximately 8:41 p.m. the Fairfield Police Department initiated a traffic stop and the K9 unit alerted on the vehicle and marijuana was seized. The Police Department obtained search warrants for a motorhome in Fairfield and all together approximately 100 pounds of marijuana and over 5 grams of meth was seized. Police arrested 34-year-old Joel Bernards and his 25-year-old wife Emily Bernards, both of Lower Lake, California.

The Bernards have been charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of meth within 1,000 feet of a park and possession with intent to deliver less than 50 kilograms of marijuana. In total, the pair is facing 5 felonies, two of which are punishable up to 25 years in prison.

The investigation is on going and may lead to additional arrests and charges. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
