The Washington girl’s basketball team kicks off their season tonight.

The Demons open up at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg tonight in Washington, and get to show off their speedy team in front of the home crowd for the first three games of the season.

Washington will look to the highest scoring returner from last year in Stephanie Fishback to help lead the scoring this year, she brings 165 points and a 35 percent shooting percentage from three point range.

The Demons will also get some looks to returning defensive standout and speedster Grace Redlinger who had 136 points last year and 46 steals. With those two players alone, Washington’s transition game will be a key to almost any game this season.

The Demons do have three other players on the court though that could consist of just about anyone said coach Phil Long. Dema Giardino is likely to play point guard, but the other two could be just about anyone on the roster.

Eddyville-Blakesburg brings back their top scorer in Tasha Alexander with 294 points. Alexander led five seniors last year in scoring, and is one of the two only seniors on this years team.

Outside of Alexander for returning points, it drops down to now junior Sadie Baugher who had 39 points.

Tonight is a freshmen, junior varsity and varsity basketball night for the Demons, with Varsity scheduled to start at 8 P.M. tonight.
