Although the drought currently impacting much of Iowa is expected to persist through February, conditions continue to improve. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the area of severe drought covering Iowa, Johnson, Keokuk and northern Washington County is growing smaller. The drought situation in the rest of southeast Iowa is classified as moderate.
