Drought conditions continue to lessen across Iowa, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. This week 23.4% of the state is not experiencing drought conditions, up nearly 3-percent from last week. Northwestern Washington County remains in severe drought, as does Keokuk, Iowa and Johnson counties, however much of southeast Iowa is now classified as moderate.

At this time last year, nearly 70% of the state was in severe drought with 42% in extreme drought conditions.
