The Wellman Elementary PTO is spearheading an effort to make an improvement to the school’s playground. The group wants to replace the playground’s mulch bedding with a flat surface made from recycled tires, that will improve safety, and accessibility for students with disabilities.

Roughly $63,000 has been set aside by the district and PTO for the $120,000 project. They plan to apply for grants and hold fundraisers to cover the rest.

The group presented their plans to the Wellman City Council on Monday.
