Congressman Dave Loebsack met with members of the board of Iowa Renewable Energy in Washington yesterday to discuss the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to lower the renewable fuel volume obligations under the Renewable Fuels Standards for 2014. Loebsack states that doing so would hurt Iowa’s economy. He says that the Iowa delegation, including Iowa’s four congressmen and two senators are opposed to lowering the obligations; however, he does advise constiuents who are also opposed to put pressure on the administration, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and other legislators. This was the second stop on the congressman’s Fueling Iowa’s Economy tour which is highlighting the importance of renewable fuels, biodiesel and wind energy.
