A state grant will help a Henry County middle school create a prototype classroom that will change the way students receive instruction. The classroom at Mt Pleasant Middle School will be modeled after classrooms at the University of Iowa that feature things like interconnected tablets, computers and screens.

The school received $50,000 from the STEM Advisory Board, and a $50,000 match from the school district, to replicate the classroom that will get students actively involved in lessons.

Principal Darren Hanna says the goal is to get kids engaged, while showing them the importance of math and science.
