Iowa Public Health is reminding Iowans to refrigerate food promptly after holiday meals. Also, it is advised to discard any food that is left out for more than two hours because the temperature change may cause bacteria to grow. Director of Washington County Public Health Danielle Pettit-Majewski recommends that left over turkey should be cooled in a long shallow glass bowl or pan and then put in the refrigerator; allowing the turkey to cool will prevent spoiling other foods in the refrigerator.
