The Winfield-. Mt. Union volleyball team had six players make the all-conference list, with two first team selections, two second team and two honorable mentions.
On first team is Erica Robinson and Shelby Therme. Robinson led the team in kills with 269 kills, and added 51 blocks. Therme was second in kills with 207, she also had 54 aces, and led the team in digs with 319.
Head coach Dave Pieart said it’s great to have so many starters on the all-conference list, and that the first team players had fantastic seasons to make it.
“We had six girls on the all conference which was really nice, we were using a rotation of 10, so 60 percent of your team being on all-conference is pretty darn good,” Pieart said. “Erica [Robinson] had a fantastic season, led the team in kills, led the team in hitting percentage, played all the way around for the first time this year, finished up her career as a four year start, just had a great season offensively. Shelby [Therme] was second on the team in kills and easily our best passer and serve receiver, so she had a phenomenal defensive year.”
On second team is Emily Mathews who was third in kills with 132 and led the team in blocks with 57, and Brooke Jennings who led the team in assists with 370.
Honorable mentions for the Wolves were Taylor Rodgers and Layne Davis. Rodgers was second in assists with 323 and Davis had 31 aces.
Pieart also received one of the four co coach of the year awards.
WMU was third in the conference with a 7-2 record.
