The WACO football team had nine players make the all-class A district five team, and a co-MVP.

Tucker Janecek was named co- offensive MVP of district five after having 1,026 yards on 122 attempts and 12 touchdowns in district play.He also led his team on defense with 63 tackles, including four solo tackles for a loss, and two interceptions.

WACO head coach Chad Edeker said Janecek was a power back that forced the defense to tackle well.

“Tucker was so tough to bring down. He was co-MVP with the Lisbon kid and I think both backs did a great job running this year, but I think the styles were a lot different. Tucker was just such a physical back, very rarely did you see him get brought down on the first tackler, and sometimes it would take two or three and sometimes he would break away and go the whole way, it gave us a sense of explosion on offense there,” Edeker said. “It was nice to have the district coaches recognize that and give him part of the MVP.

On first team offense for the Warriors is Josh Shumaker on offensive line.

For defense WACO had two first teamers, with Isaac Black at the linebacker position, and Dylan Carlson at defensive back. Black had two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and 39 tackles, while Carlson had 13 tackles, one interception that was returned 85 yards for a touchdown and one fumble recovery.
